Write for us
We welcome pitches from writers who can make an emerging public idea easier to understand without flattening its disagreements or uncertainty. Bring us a clear question, a distinct angle and a sense of why a curious reader would want to follow it.
What we welcome
We are interested in thoughtful explanations of new ideas, the language around them, how movements develop and the ways media carry conversations. A strong proposal might clarify a confusing distinction, trace how a concept changes as people use it, or examine what a public phrase reveals and what it leaves unsaid.
Make the pitch specific
Tell us the working subject, the central question and your proposed approach. Explain what readers will understand by the end and why the topic suits Rising News Collective. Flag any uncertainty, competing interpretations or factual claims that would need careful support. Keep the proposal focused; a finished draft is not needed at the pitching stage.
Send a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to send your pitch. Include a short description of the idea and any relevant writing sample or background you wish to share. Please do not send confidential material or assume that a proposal has been accepted until we have agreed on it.
Ideas grow through conversation
We look at how a thought moves from one person to many, and what changes along the way. Curiosity comes first; certainty can wait.
